Library of İzmir Institute of Technology is located on 6500 m2 area in Urla Campus as Central Library and it is equipped with high technology. It includes books of Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Architecture and General Culture. It includes halls for books, digital library, hall for mind games, International Relations Office, photocopy center, conference hall, etc.

Department of Library and Documantation was founded in 1992 with the aim of

* Presenting the best sources
* Supporting the use and transfer of knowledge both in national and international field
* Helping the members to get the information in the campus or outside of the campus
* Being the leadership of the education
* Creating a Library and Information Center to effect the academic and social life of instructors, students and workers of İzmir Institute of Technology.

After the meeting of LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries) in Hungary, between the dates 8th-12th April 2008, Library of İzmir Institute of Technology has been selected one of the best 29 libraries which were built in recent years in Europe.
